Mask

 2018

Photographic sculpture

Inkjet print on matte photographic paper and nails

120cm x 100cm x 25cm

My interpretation of a traditional African mask, once used in most traditional African cultures, the person who wears a ritual mask conceptually loses his or her human identity and turns into the spirit represented by the mask itself.

The sculpture was made from plaster, metal rods, and indian ink, then photographed in the studio. The image was printed and cut out of photographic paper. The photograph was then folded and manipulated  to create a 3 dimensional photographic object, in a sort of origami manner.

Won 1st prize, in honor of”The Lior Ziv” Award for excellence in photography. participated  in the exhibition titled “Meeting Point” at Shenkar College of Art, Tel Aviv.
